Welcome to Bear Tree Rental

Bear Tree Rental is a newly established lodging choice located in the wilderness area of the Connecticut Lakes region of Pittsburg, NH.

Click For Larger ViewIn the autumn of 2002 Bear Tree Rental purchased a 6.2-acre parcel of land upon which four unique log structures pre-existed. The uniqueness of the buildings, coupled with their layout on the site had great appeal to us.

The site has a compound configuration reminiscent of the plot plans associated with the old hunting and fishing camps from a bye-gone era complete with the traditional game pole. To whet the appetite of all outdoor enthusiasts, there is a trout-feeding pond from which the neighboring deer and moose frequently drink.

Click For Larger ViewAdjacent to the pond, there is a picnic area with several tables and a barbecue pit. Toward the back of the property, there are game trails and a snowmobile trail that makes for a great game viewing adventure.

Over the winter months, (02 – 03), the interiors of these buildings have been refurbished with a goal of adding all the modern amenities while preserving the charm and rugged appeal of the past. Careful thought has gone into the furnishing of each unit including memorabilia, etc. in an attempt to preserve a nostalgic atmosphere.

Since the “settlement” of the above referenced “compound”, BEAR TREE has expanded its horizons northward:

Click For Larger ViewIn the spring of 2004, BEAR TREE acquired the self-storage units and 17 acres of land ½ mile north of the cabins. This purchase allows us to offer our lodging guests, as well as the general public, the option to store their “toys” in our facility rather than carting them back and forth with each Pittsburg trip. This option should be very appealing to snowmobilers as the site has direct access to Trail #142. As a bonus the 17 acres associated with this site is considered one of the prime moose viewing areas in Pittsburg.

Very recent exploration northward has led to what BEAR TREE refers to as 1st Lake Outpost. Located on the most northern shores of 1st Connecticut Lake, our most recent settlement is situated on a waterfront property within Dryki Cove. This site has a spectacular view (4-5 miles) of the Lake with Magalloway Mountain as a distant backdrop.

Click For Larger ViewWithin minutes is great ice fishing in the cove, awesome spring/fall fishing on the sandbar and just around the corner of Greens Point where salmon fishing can be spectacular! For snowmobilers, snow comes earlier and more often with superior conditions extended well into the spring from this site. Trail access is at a much more northern point.

Both the main structure “Salmon Leap Lodge” and a smaller quaint cabin “The Little Fry” are separated from the Lake by approximately 75 ft. of lawn on which one can enjoy the view, or partake in water activities from our lengthy dock.

In the Fall of 2007 we opened the doors to The Inn at Bear Tree situated on Route 3 across from First Connecticut Lake. Built in the 1800's, the remodeled Inn retains the rustic quaintness of yesteryear.
